Directives, laws, regulations and standards
There are a variety of regulations for luminaires, depending on the luminaire.
These rules are intended to protect the consumer from electric shock, harmful substances, electromagnetic radiation, fire, disturbing glare, permanent damage to the eyes or unnecessary energy consumption.
In addition, other devices in the vicinity of the luminaire should be able to do their work undisturbed.
The MAUL test laboratory
We never include a light or lamp in our range unless it has successfully passed intensive testing. The safety of every luminaire is guaranteed by our team from optical, electronic and mechanical development as well as production engineering. We are obliged to subject prototypes to a wide range of tests, both in-house and off-site, at various test houses, institutes or universities.
The tests at MAUL
Mechanics / Statics:
Is the foot stable? Is the clamp fastening sufficient? Can the joints withstand frequent movements?
Electronics / Security:
Is the insulation sufficient? How high is the electromagnetic radiation? Does the luminaire not pose a fire hazard?
Optics / Safety:
Does the luminaire not emit any disturbing light? Won't the eyes be permanently damaged? Does the light have the right colour? Are colours of illuminated objects reproduced correctly?
Lifespan:
In the long-term test laboratory, the luminaires are subjected to an endurance test. Performance data are determined at regular intervals, e.g. illuminance or temperature.
Based on our long-term tests, empirical values and calculations, we are able to give reliable information about the service life.
Further tests are incoming goods inspections according to test procedures oriented to standards, random samples in which the desk lamp is disassembled and examined for possible changes and imponderables, drop and packaging tests.
